Since co-founding Sentric in 1994, Maggs has helped the business transform from a regional payroll service bureau into a national HR software provider. Under his leadership Sentric has grown, expanding its footprint with offices in Orange County, Calif. and Denver, Colo., acquiring more than 2,000 clients across all 50 states.

But more than just grow Sentric’s economic footprint, Maggs has also played a major role in the company increasing its charitable efforts. Those efforts include a total of nearly 550 service hours in 2014 with organizations such as the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Toys for Tots.

“Mike has always preached the philosophy of doing more – more for our customers and more for our community,” said Dave Lewis, Sentric’s Executive Vice President. “Because of this, it comes as no surprise that he’s included as part of this year’s Smart 50 class. On behalf of the entire Sentric organization, I’m proud to congratulate Mike on this latest accomplishment.”

“Mike is great and caring leader who understands the benefit of going above and beyond both in business and in the community,” said Tracy Null, Sentric’s VP of Business Development. “I can’t think of a better, more deserving person to be included in this year’s Smart 50 class.”

The 2015 class of Smart 50 winners represent a diverse set of businesses and industries, each offering an inspiring commitment to both his/her organization and the community. As such, winners were selected in equal parts leaderships and innovation, as well as dedication and outreach to the community.

Maggs was honored as part of the 2015 Smart 50 winners at an event held at the Fairmont Pittsburgh on Tuesday, November 10.
